Processional Crosses
The processional cross plays an important part in the Catholic Mass, and in the liturgies and worship services of other Christian denominations. At the beginning of Mass the cross is carried at the head of the procession of the altar servers, priest and lectors into the church. The processional cross signals the beginning of the liturgy, and symbolizes our reason for gathering together in worship: the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His promise of resurrection. After leading the procession into the church, the processional cross is placed in the sanctuary, where it is displayed for the rest of the Mass. At the conclusion of the liturgy, the cross leads the procession out of the church.
Saint Patrick's Guild offers a large selection of processional crosses in a wide variety of materials, including hardwood, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, bronze and gold plating. We also offer many different styles of processional crosses, including Latin, Celtic and Eastern Orthodox.
