In 1990, a church youth group placed a small order for a bracelet with the initials WWJD (what would Jesus do?) in order to drive home a point they were reading in the 1896 novel 'In His Steps' by Charles M. Sheldon. The book relates a story about a Midwestern church which embarked on a mission to preface every thought and action with the question, 'What would Jesus do?'
A small company produced the bracelets for the group and as more churches and groups saw them, they increased in popularity at the rate of a half-million per month! WWJD-themed items are a simple, helpful way for youth and adults to think through the dilemmas we face.
