The School Sisters of Notre Dame from Mankato Minnesota have created this magnificent album of organ music with their historic Opus 499 organ.
Riched in tradition, the School Sisters of Notre Dame have brought music to Mankato Minnesota since 1865.
In 1975 the sisters rescued the Historic Opus 499 organ from St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Boston.
The organ, originally built in 1877, is the largest existing organ ever built by the Johnson and Son Company. It contains nearly 3,000 pipes and 45 speaking stops and utilizes the famous 'Johnson Reeds' which give the trumpets a brillient 'French' sound.
This CD captures the masterpiece of the American Romatic style organs on the late 19th century. Now you can experience a taste of this majesty in your own home with this CD.
