St Catherine Laboure joined the Sisters of St Vincent de Paul and was sent to a convent in Paris. Almost at once she began to have visions of the Blessed Virgin in the convent chapel. In the visions, the Virgin asked her to have a religious medal made that proclaimed the Immaculate Conception. The words on the medal were to read, 'O Mary, conceived free from sin, pray for us who have recourse to you!
Today the medal is known as the Miraculous Medal.
This St Catherine Laboure medal is made of sterling silver, about the size of a nickel. The front of the medal depicts the image and name of St Catherine Labourne Pray For Us, the back of the medal is blank allowing for if you choose.
