"The debut Spiritu CD grew out of years of music provided for liturgies at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Saint Paul, MN. This recording captures some of our favorites. Offering our music at hundreds of Sunday Masses, weddings, funerals, prayer services, retreats, and other events is a privilege and a joy.

Our music is acoustic, prayerful, and eclectic. The variety reflects our tastes and musical backgrounds, ranging from degrees in classical music to many years of experience performing live in bands or as a solo act around the Twin Cities. Whether we're doing a familiar church hymn, a traditional American melody, or contemporary praise and worship, we hope to touch the spirit of our listeners.

Each Sunday's group usually consists of four people: Michael Loonan on piano, vocals, and guitar; Amy Kuebelbeck on guitar, vocals, and piano; Brigid McCarthy on violin; and one of three regular cantors: John Theis, Damien Riehl, or Tara Lyons. Special guests include Jill Treacy and Joe Henderson on vocals as well as David Methner on clarinet and saxophone, currently on leave with his family in Hong Kong. Michael has been sharing his piano talents at Nativity since 1991, and Amy has organized the group and chosen the music since 2001."
