Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the most popular Catholic depictions of the Virgin Mary. The image originated in 1531 when Mary appeared to Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill in Mexico and requested that a church be built in Her honor. When the local bishop asked for a sign from Mary to prove that his vision was true, Juan Diego returned to the spot where he saw the Virgin and she helped him gather roses into his tilma. When he poured the roses before the bishop from his tilma, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared on the cloth. The Our Lady of Guadalupe medal contains that famous image and will be a reminder of the miracles that can happen when you keep Mary close to you.
