Scapulars

A scapular was originally a garment, part of the Benedictine order's habit; a shoulder-width piece of fabric put on over the head that would cover a person's front and back like an apron. It evolved into a more symbolic garment ("the yoke of Christ"). It was modified, becoming part of the habit, then eventually becoming two small squares of cloth worn front and back suspended on strings, which is the form most commonly worn today by lay people. Select from brown, white or green, or choose a sterling silver medal or Sacred Heart badge. Each design signifies a different special devotion.
