November 30 is the feast day of St. Andrew the Apostle. The feast of St. Andrew marks the beginning of a new liturgical year with the start of Advent which begins the on the Sunday that falls nearest to the feast day of St. Andrew. The St. Andrew Christmas Novena comes in a 24 page booklet that is also illustrated. The St. Andrew Christmas prayer which is contained in the novena is said to be over 100 years old and thought to have come from Ireland.

If said as a nine day novena, the novena would end on the feast of the Immaculate Conception but this novena is meant to be prayed all through the season of Advent. The St. Andrew Christmas prayer reads " Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! To hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Saviour Jesus Christ and His blessed Mother. Amen."

The booklet says it is piously believed that if this prayer is said 15 times a day from November 20, the feast of St. Andrew, to Christmas, the favors prayed for will be granted. Many people seek a deeper, more serene prayer experience during the chaotic days of the holiday season. This St. Andrew Christmas Novena gives you a way to have a meaningful prayerful time each day. Also see the Christmas Novena holy card, item N15913, which contains the St. Andrew prayer.
