The oval medal on our St. Bendan necklace is crafted from the finest sterling silver and measures 1-1/16"H x 3/4"W. St. Brendan is renowned for his missionary journeys by ship. After becoming a monk, priest and abbott, he founded many monasteries in Ireland. Brendan and sixty companions decided to spread the gospel by sailing to several missionary fields, including the Scottish Isles and the "Isles of the Blessed" (believed to be North America). Therefore he is designated as the patron saint of sailors, navigators, mariners, seafarers and yachtsmen. His feast day is May 16. The medal hangs on a 24" endless stainless steel chain that is rhodium plated to prevent tarnishing and slips over the head. Fits most men ages 16 years and up.

The front of the St. Brendan medal necklace features him cradling a sailing ship in his right arm and elevating a cross with his left. The back is blank perfect for engraving. We offer personalized engraving for $9.95 which includes up to 3 lines with 10 characters available on each line (including spaces and punctuation). See below to add engraving to your order and type in your desired engraving text. The St. Brendan medal necklace makes a great personalized gift for Confirmation, First Communion or other special occasions.
