The Little Flowers of Saint Francis is a collection of the best-loved stories of St. Francis and his followers. Although many think this Christian classic was written by St. Francis, it was actually written after his death by Franciscan Brother Ugolino di Monte Santa Maria who collected the stories and wrote them down so they would not be lost. Stories included in The Little Flowers of Saint Francis are Francis's sermon to the birds, the wolf of Gubbio, the "Canticle of Brother Sun" and the lives and sayings of Brother Juniper and Brother Giles. This edition has been translated into modern English and contains 20 additional chapters not found in other versions. The Little Flowers of Saint Francis has an Introduction which contains biographies of both St. Francis and the author, information about role the book played in the early times of the Franciscan order, the historical value of the book and much more information. The book appeals to people of all faiths because it "is a love story...the story of how the Little Poor Man taught the world about the love of Christ, and how this love can be lived and shared and enjoyed by everyone".
