St. Martin of Tours is the patron saint of France. He fought against Arianism and was banished for these efforts. During his banishment he attracted many followers whom he organized into the first monastery in France. Legend has it that he gave his cloak to a beggar and later saw in a vision that the beggar had been Jesus. This holy card, dedicated to him, is a two page card featuring the world famous artwork of Fratelli-Bonella with gold stamped trim. The front of the card has an image of St. Martin giving his cloak to the beggar. The back of the card has a prayer to St. Martin calling him a soldier for Christ and asking him to watch over all soldiers today. The inside has a biography of St. Martin, his feast day, the meaning of his name and the people for whom he is considered a patron saint. The card measures 5-3/8 by 3-1/4 inches so is easy to carry or use as a bookmark in a bible or prayer book. It would be a nice memento to give the young person who has chosen Martin as his Confirmation name or to someone involved in the military.
